Nick has been coaching individuals, teams and within organisations since 2007. He has coached pilots and flightcrew, senior leadership and professional influencers and is dedicated to enabling, enhancing and maximising performance through transformational growth to the benefit of the individual and their teams, leading to a culture of excellence.
Professionally accredited and ethically assured, Nick’s emphasis is on confidentiality, standards and proven governance, being supportive, collaborative and respectful, enabling introspection and exploration, whilst giving appropriate challenge and the safe space for reflection and growth.
Focusing on areas such as decision making, situational awareness, focus, communications, inter and intra personal relationships and awareness, his expertise extends to personal welfare, self confidence, stress management and resilience and organisational and cultural change.
Enabling critical self-reflection, for those who face personal challenge, so that they are able to learn and attend to their own feelings, thoughts and essential actions and thus adapt their performance and behaviours, is a core premise for an effective ‘coaching’ intervention. Able to reduce ‘interference’, both external and internal, to a minimum to achieve:
Best Performance = Potential – Interference

He also notably has unique experience coaching both commercial and military pilots and flight managers.
Nick has a Postgraduate Diploma in Coaching Psychology and was awarded a distinction in a Masters Degree in Executive and Business Coaching, focusing on peer support and mental wellbeing. He is a member of the EMCC.
In parallel, he has had a 40 year career as a military and civilian Fast Jet Pilot, Instructor and Examiner, focused on Flight Operations as well as learning and development. What is the difference between Coaching and...
ADVISING?
is when an expert tells you how to be more effective or successful based on their research, experience, knowledge or expertise.
MENTORING?
is when the mentor takes personal interest in your career development and gives you guidance, direction and help based on their past experience.
Counselling?
is the provision of professional assistance and guidance for people who are experiencing difficulties and distress in their lives.
Consulting?
is when someone has a gap in their skill or knowledge and the consultant fills that gap with their expertise
These are all facilitating change based on expert knowledge.
Coaching is a method that enables the person to make their own choices that will give them greater satisfaction and confidence. Coaching utilises the person’s inherent knowledge, wisdom and experience in order for the person to find their own solutions.
What direction the coachees life should take in the future is not ours to judge. We must not imagine that we know better than their own nature, or we would prove ourselves educators of the worst kind…..It is better to renounce any attempt to give direction, and simply to try to throw into relief everything that the coaching brings to light, so that the coachee can see it clearly and be able to draw suitable conclusions. Anything they have not acquired themselves they will not believe in the long run, and what they take over from authority merely keeps them infantile. They should rather be put in the position to take ownership of their own life in hand.
